There is an urgent need to evaluate, standardise and improve the quality of palliative care in Europe. Partners from organisations in seven European countries (Belgium, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, and Spain) are undertaking an international study in order to describe ‘good practices in palliative care’ and to develop quality indicators.
» project background
Detailed questionnaires that will provide an inventory of data of several types for the different services provided.
During Year 1, a literature review was undertaken to search for indicators, but also for aspects of the organisation of palliative care that were considered important for its quality.
A two-round modified Rand Delphi procedure with panels in six participating countries consisting of experts in different domains in palliative care was conducted in 2009-2010.
